OAU Admission Requirements (UTME)

To gain admission into OAU, you must meet several criteria set by the university and JAMB. These include academic performance, age, and participation in screening exams.

Here’s what you must fulfill to qualify:

  • Obtain at least five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects in SSCE or GCE.
  • Use the correct JAMB subject combination for your chosen course. Failure to do this may result in disqualification.
  • Score a minimum of 180 in the UTME. Competitive courses like Medicine, Law, and Engineering may require even higher scores.
  • Choose OAU as your first choice when registering for JAMB. Applicants who do not do this are rarely considered.
  • Participate in the OAU Post-UTME screening. This step is compulsory and will further evaluate your academic qualifications.
  • You must be at least 16 years old at the time of admission.

Direct Entry Admission Requirements at OAU

Candidates applying through Direct Entry (DE) must also meet specific standards. These are more advanced compared to UTME applicants.

Below are the Direct Entry criteria:

  • Secure five (5) O’Level credits in English, Mathematics, and three other relevant subjects. These credits must be from no more than two sittings.
  • Possess A’ Level/IJMB passes in two relevant subjects.
  • Present a valid JUPEB or A-Level result in a related field.
  • Candidates with a Degree (First Class/Second Class Upper) in a related course may be considered.
  • Obtain the official Direct Entry form from both JAMB and the OAU admission portal.
